Na przełomie 2017 i 2018 roku udaliśmy się w podróż do Gambii i Senegalu. Podziwialiśmy egzotyczne widoki, egzotyczne zwierzęta i obserwowaliśmy życie miejscowej ludności. Nie trzeba było nikomu mówić, że jednym z naszych spostrzeżeń było ubóstwo tam. Cóż, ubóstwo lub różnica. Próbowaliśmy sami odpowiedzieć na to pytanie, przemieszczając się po coraz większym obszarze.

Po powrocie do Polski zadawaliśmy pytania o specyfikę Afryki naszym siostrom klauzurowym z klasztoru w pobliżu nas. Odbyło się wiele dyskusji i spotkań. Chcieliśmy wrócić do Gambii i pomóc, choć trochę.

The sisters found a Polish woman from the Sacre Coeur convent, who happened to be in Soma, where her convent ran a school. Before the next trip, we made contact with her, agreed that we would give her the goods we had brought from our trip, and started packing. So many people decided to add something to our suitcases that we had difficulty closing them. We left in the spring of 2018. The meeting with Sister David was short but succinct. We also agreed on what we would do for them until our next stay in The Gambia.
